Financial Coach

As your financial coach, my role is to help you change the way you look at your finances and work towards developing life-long positive behaviours. Did you know that most money habits are formed in our childhood by the age of 7?

Think back to when you were a child; how were your parents/carers around money and do you think you’ve inherited any of their habits? Do you still bank at the same bank as them for example?

Parents/carers should never underestimate the financial impact on their children as these core

behaviours are taken into adulthood and can affect the financial decisions made during the rest of their lives.

Here are a few things to ponder:

  • Think about when you spend and why; does it give you a temporary high or does it make you feel better when you feel down?
  • Are you loyal to a particular financial brand?
  • What aspects of your financial health make your mental health feel worse?

The reason we look at these behaviours is to understand how you feel about money and to increase your motivation for achieving better personal wealth; ultimately allowing you the freedom to manage and enjoy your money.

So, what does that ‘freedom’ feel like?

  • When you understand the behaviours aligned to your spending and financial choices it frees you to make informed and intentional plans going forward.
  • When you are free from debt, you are free to decide where your money goes and how it works.
  • You have the freedom to decide; the freedom of choice – without worry…so good!

In my trusted position as your financial coach, we will undertake a thorough analysis of your finances, which will involve undertaking a deep dive to uncover any financial choices that are based on emotion or inherited behaviours. For example, do you have a go to shop, or do you prefer to spend via an app? Are you an amazon addict? Does the courier greet you daily like one of their closest friends?

Once we have worked out your behaviour around money, we can work out a clear plan, set objectives, look at your priorities and get financially organised!

  • Choose a regular time to look at your money and bills each week so that things don’t pile up.
  • Put all important records and documents (e.g. payslips, bank statements, bills and receipts) in one place, so that you can find them easily.
  • Create a budget.
  • Look into bank accounts that allow you to put money aside for essentials in separate sub-accounts. This can help prevent you spending money you need for rent or bills.
  • Try withdrawing ONLY the money you want to spend that week.

During this process with me as your financial coach, you will receive ongoing support and become accountable for your own financial success. Before you know it, you’ll be thinking like a financial coach for yourself!
